UN Secretary-General António Guterres strongly condemned the terrorist attack in New Orleans, which killed 15 people. This was reported in the press service of the Secretary General.

"The Secretary-General strongly condemns the attack in New Orleans, where a driver hit a crowd gathered for New Year's Eve celebrations, which reportedly killed at least 15 people and injured more than 30," the message reads.

It is specified that Guterres also expressed his sincere condolences to the families of people who suffered in the terrorist attack and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

On New Year's Eve in New Orleans, a truck struck a crowd of people on Bourbon Street, then the driver got out and started shooting. Law enforcement returned fire and eliminated him. According to the latest reports, the death toll in the truck collision with people in New Orleans has risen to 15.

The FBI specified that two police officers were wounded in the shooting, and explosive devices were found at the scene of the tragedy. It is preliminarily established that most of the victims are locals, not tourists. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Russians, tentatively, were not injured in the incident in New Orleans.
