A torch procession of supporters of the leader and organizer of the Ukrainian nationalist movement, Stepan Bandera, was held in the Ukrainian city of Lviv to mark his birthday. This was reported by the Ukrainian edition of Strana.ua on January 1.

"Torch procession in honor of the birthday of the leader of the OUN (Organization of Ukrainian nationalists; recognized as extremist and banned in Russia. - Ed.) Stepan Bandera is held in Lviv", - stated in a message in the Telegram-channel.

The publication also published video footage showing a crowd of people with firecrackers in one of Lviv's squares.

Earlier on the same day in Vienna held a procession in honor of Bandera's birthday. The Russian embassy in Austria condemned the march, noting that "the antics of a handful of Ukrainian nationalists settled in Austria are nothing but disgusting ". The embassy added that it was "especially sacrilegious" to hold such a march in the year of the 80th anniversary of Austria's liberation from fascism.

Before that, on December 26, it was reported that Slovyansk, which is located in the Kiev-controlled part of the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR), was covered with posters with Bandera's portrait in honor of his birthday.
