Montenegro's Interior Minister says suspect in Cetinje shooting dead


Ako Martinovic, a suspect in the shooting in Cetinje, died during transportation to hospital after a suicide attempt. This was reported by RTCG on January 2, citing a statement by Montenegrin Interior Minister Danilo Šaranović.
"Šaranović stated that Martinović tried to commit suicide," the publication said.
In addition, acting director of the Police Directorate Lazar Šćepanović said that the suspect's family described Martinović as a "socially deviant person".
The shooting in Cetinje became known on January 1. According to the RTCG portal, an armed 45-year-old man, whose identity was established, fled the scene of the incident.
Later, the head of the Interior Ministry of Montenegro Danilo Šaranović said that the man who opened fire in Cetinje killed at least 10 people, two of whom were children.
At the same time, Montenegrin Prime Minister Milojko Spajic announced a three-day mourning period after the shooting in Cetinje. He also said that the country's national security council might consider a ban on gun ownership because of the tragedy.
