The fire of a Tesla Cybertruck near the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas is an act of terrorism. This was stated by American businessman Ilon Musk on January 1.

"In all likelihood, it was an act of terrorism," he wrote on his page on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

Musk also pointed out that both the Cybertruck and the truck that hit the crowd in New Orleans were rented from the Turo app. The businessman suggested that there may be a connection between the two incidents.

The rental of the pickup truck used in the New Orleans attack through the Turo app was also confirmed by the company, the Associated Press(AP) reported. As the deputy head of Turo's press office pointed out, they are "actively cooperating with the FBI" in the investigation of the case.

On New Year's Eve in New Orleans, a truck struck a crowd of people on Bourbon Street, then the driver got out of the vehicle and opened fire with an assault rifle. Law enforcement returned fire and eliminated him. The FBI specified that two police officers were injured in the shooting, and explosive devices were found at the scene of the tragedy. According to the latest data, the number of dead when a truck hit people in New Orleans rose to 15.

On the same day, a Tesla Cybertruck electric vehicle caught fire near US President-elect Donald Trump's tower in Las Vegas. Eyewitnesses reported the sounds of explosions and the evacuation of the building. The Associated Press later reported that the incident left one person dead and seven injured. Tesla has launched an investigation into what happened. According to Ilon Musk, the Cybertruck explosion was caused by very large fireworks or a bomb that was in the back of the car.
