Montenegro allowed to consider gun ban after shooting in Cetinje


Montenegro's National Security Council may consider a ban on gun ownership because of the shooting in Cetinje that killed 10 people. This was announced on January 1 by the country's Prime Minister Milojko Spajic on his page in the social network X (former Twitter).
"At a meeting of the National Security Council, we will urgently consider all options, including a complete ban on the possession of weapons," the Prime Minister said in a statement.
He specified that weapons should not be owned by those who can harm anyone. In addition, Spajic said that additional experts will be admitted to the case and Montenegro will not wait for the decision of the European Commission on this issue.
The shooting in Cetinje became known on January 1. According to the RTCG portal, an armed 45-year-old man, whose identity was established, fled the scene of the incident.
Later, the head of the Interior Ministry of Montenegro Danilo Šaranović said that the man who opened fire in Cetinje killed at least 10 people, two of whom were children.
At the same time, Montenegrin Prime Minister Milojko Spajic said that the Montenegrin government would declare three days of mourning after the shooting in Cetinje.
