An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) of the reconnaissance division of the artillery unit of the Russian paratroopers' artillery unit has destroyed three tanks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the border areas of Kursk Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 2.

The paratroopers destroyed two Soviet-made tanks and one NATO-made tank. Thanks to their work, the Russian assault units were able to advance and take more favorable positions and lines.

The ministry specified that FPV drones with fiber optic wire control were used. This type of control allows avoiding the action of electronic warfare systems (EWS).

UAV calculations need to fulfill the tasks of searching for enemy tanks with the help of drones and destroying them. The paratroopers use different types of ammunition depending on what target needs to be hit.

Earlier, on December 28, it was reported that in the border areas of Kursk region, units of the Guards Airborne Assault Don Cossack Regiment of the Airborne Troops from Feodosia, supported by artillery fire, continued to improve their position along the front line and stormed an AFU stronghold located in a destroyed building in one of the settlements.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Oblast on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
