Russian Embassy condemns march in honor of Bandera in Vienna

The Russian Embassy in Austria has condemned a procession in honor of the leader and organizer of the Ukrainian nationalist movement Stepan Bandera in Vienna on January 1.

The embassy added that it was "especially sacrilegious" to hold such a procession in the year of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Austria from fascism.

Diplomats emphasized that the responsibility for the desecration of the monument "modern followers of Hitler - Tiso - Salas - Bandera", who incite an atmosphere of hatred and campaign against Soviet war memorials in the countries of Europe. It was noted that the Slovak authorities will conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and the monument will be restored as soon as possible.
