- The Russian Defense Ministry reported on the exploits of Russian Armed Forces fighters in the special operation zone

On January 2, the Russian Defense Ministry described the exploits of Russian servicemen in the zone of the special military operation (SMO).
The ministry noted that Sergeant Alexander Gribkov, together with his subordinates, carried out a combat mission to ensure stable and reliable communications in the interests of a battalion tactical group of the Russian Armed Forces (AF). Having found a suitable place to install a repeater, a group of communicators led by Gribkov moved out to fulfill the task.
The militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), having discovered the actions of Russian servicemen near the line of contact, attempted an attack using FPV drones. Having visually detected a rapidly approaching enemy copter, Gribkov, taking cover behind a tree, opened fire on it. The enemy drone, struck by a precise shot, detonated in mid-air without harming the communicators and equipment.
After the repeater was installed, the command was able to coordinate forces in battle more effectively, which allowed it to launch an artillery strike on the places of accumulation of military equipment of the Ukrainian army identified by Russian reconnaissance.
In addition, the Defense Ministry drew attention to the merits of Martiros Dzhansuzyan, deputy commander of the BARS-16 detachment. A group of fighters under his command fought with AFU fighters who attempted to dislodge the Russian military from the occupied borders. Despite the numerical superiority of the enemy, the BARS-16 fighters steadfastly repelled all the enemy's attacks. The enemy, suffering losses, began firing mortars at the Russian army positions.
Acting on one of the most dangerous parts of the line of contact, Dzhansuzyan noticed that one of the men of his squad was seriously wounded and could not get out of the area of enemy mortar fire on his own. Despite the incessant shelling and the risk to his own life, he rushed to his comrade's aid. Having rendered first aid right on the battlefield, the serviceman carried the wounded man on himself to a safe place and handed him over to the medics, after which he returned to his position and continued to lead the defense and repel enemy attacks.
The enemy, having exhausted its attack potential and having lost a significant number of storm troopers, withdrew deep into the territories under its control. Dzhansuzyan's courageous and decisive actions made it possible to repel all the attacks of the AFU without suffering any losses, and also saved the life of a Russian serviceman.
The day before, on January 1, it was reported that calculations of Buk-M2 anti-aircraft missile systems of the Dnipro group of troops destroyed a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in the Kakhovka direction in the Kherson region. While on duty to protect and defend the airspace, the Buk-M2 SAM system detected and escorted an enemy aerial target. Artillerymen launched an antiaircraft guided missile and hit a target that was conducting aerial reconnaissance of the positions of Russian Armed Forces troops.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region.
