US ambassador to Russia says ready for dialog with Moscow despite differences

Washington is ready for a constructive and respectful dialog with Moscow despite the existing disagreements. This statement was made by U.S. Ambassador to Russia Lynn Tracy on January 1.
She emphasized that at the moment there is a great "need for diplomatic efforts," and therefore the American side needs to "continue to preserve existing ties and establish new ones" between Russia and the United States.
"We also remain open to respectful and constructive dialog with Russian officials, despite the deep disagreements we have on many issues," the diplomat said in a video posted on the diplomatic mission's social media accounts.
Tracy also expressed hope that in 2025 the world will be able to find solutions for a "peaceful future," but she did not mention Ukraine.
Earlier, on December 22, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia was ready to normalize relations with the United States, but not to the detriment of its interests. In this way, the head of state answered the question whether it was possible to reanimate Russian-American relations, which were in decline due to Washington's steps.
A day earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that future relations between Moscow and Washington will depend on further statements and actions of the US authorities. At present, the US is behaving as a country unfriendly to Russia, he pointed out.
Before that, on December 18, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that Russia was ready to consider any proposals to establish relations with the United States. The diplomat noted that such a question refers to the prospect of "not today and not tomorrow".
