Russians not hurt when truck hits crowd in New Orleans


There are no Russians among the victims of a truck collision with a crowd of people in New Orleans. This was reported by the Russian Embassy in the United States on January 1.
"The Russian Consulate General in Houston is in contact with the city police. According to available information, there are no Russians among the victims," the diplomatic mission's Telegram channel said.
The embassy expressed condolences to the families and friends of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova also confirmed this information to Izvestia.
On New Year's Eve in New Orleans, a truck ran into a crowd of people on Bourbon Street, then the driver got out and started shooting. Law enforcement returned fire and eliminated him. According to the latest reports, at least 10 people were killed and 35 others were injured.
The FBI specified that two police officers were wounded in the shooting, and explosive devices were found at the scene of the tragedy. It is preliminary established that most of the victims are locals, not tourists.
