Air defense forces destroyed 19 Ukrainian drones over five Russian regions

Air defense forces destroyed 19 drones of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) over the territories of five Russian regions in the evening. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 1.

"Between 17:30 and 20:00 Moscow time, on-duty air defense means destroyed 19 Ukrainian drones," the statement said.

In particular, 10 drones were eliminated over the territory of the Belgorod region, three over the Kursk region and two each over the Voronezh, Bryansk and Rostov regions.

Earlier in the day, Ukrainian militants shelled a fire station in Gorlovka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR), injuring a woman. Before that, during the day and overnight, air defense forces destroyed two AFU drones in the Belgorod region and one each over the Kursk and Bryansk regions.

Ukrainian militants are trying to strike Russian territories against the background of the special operation in Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
