Putin instructed to develop a draft framework for state language policy


Russian President Vladimir Putin has instructed to develop a draft framework for the state language policy of the Russian Federation by June 1, 2025. The list of instructions following the meeting of the Council on the implementation of state policy in the sphere of support for the Russian language and languages of the peoples of Russia is published on the Kremlin website.
"To the Council under the President of the Russian Federation on realization of the state policy in the sphere of support of the Russian language and languages of the peoples of the Russian Federation together with the government of the Russian Federation to provide development of the project of the basis of the state language policy of the Russian Federation", - is stated in the list of instructions.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and Presidential Adviser on Culture Elena Yampolskaya have been appointed responsible for the assignment.
The Russian leader also instructed the government to take measures to organize Russian language training for children with no or poor knowledge of the Russian language with migration history, including those who have not been tested. The training should be implemented before migrant children are enrolled in general education organizations, the list of instructions suggests.
On the same day Putin instructed to prepare a single line of school textbooks on Russian language and literature by June 1, 2026.
Earlier, on December 27, the head of state formed an interdepartmental working group on the development of the education system, co-chaired by presidential aide Andrei Fursenko and Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.
