At least 10 people have been killed and about 30 injured in a truck collision in New Orleans in the United States, ABC News reported on January 1.

"At least 10 people are dead and about 30 injured after a vehicle drove into a crowd on Bourbon Street Wednesday morning, according to New Orleans police and city officials," the report said.

Police believe the hit-and-run appears to have been intentional. The driver is not in custody at this time.

The incident occurred around 3:15 local time (12:15 Moscow time). The total number of dead and injured is still being established. The injured people were hospitalized.

About the collision of a truck on a crowd of people in New Orleans became known earlier. It was reported that after that the driver got out and started shooting, and law enforcement agencies returned fire.
