- Captured Ukrainian militant reported that a man with autism was drafted into the AFU

Employees of the territorial recruitment and social support centers (TSC, an analogue of the military enlistment office) have enlisted a man with autism into the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU). This was reported on January 1 by a captured AFU militant Vitaliy Mikhalenko.
It is noted that the man, who was drafted to the front, was sedentary, withdrawn and almost did not speak, but the TCC staff distributed him as an assistant cook in the field canteen.
"His parents came and brought him to show him supporting documents about his health condition, but they wouldn't let him go. This is all the work of the employees of the territorial center of manning of Ukraine. At the medical commission in the conclusion everyone writes that you are healthy and fit," - said the captive.
He added that when he himself was drafted, the training was only two weeks, during which most of the time the military burned fires at the firing range to keep warm from the cold. According to Mikhalenko, there were no practical training sessions on basic combat training subjects, and discipline was absent.
"Those servicemen who went to France for training, they never learned how to fight. (At the special operation. - Ed.) during the firing, the fighters regularly shell their own and finish off their wounded," the prisoner of war noted.
Earlier, on December 28, captured AFU soldier Mykola Popovych asked to record his appeal to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, whose term of office expired on May 20, in which he compared the mobilization of 18-year-olds with the mobilization of children. The military officer said that TCC officers took him to the service when he was on his way to get a reservation. After the tank unit, he was transferred to the Kursk region without reporting the border crossing.
In April, Zelensky signed a law tightening mobilization. In particular, he lowered the age of mobilization from 27 to 25 and signed a law on the creation of an electronic register of persons liable for military service, which combines information on the personal data of Ukrainians, including details of domestic and foreign passports. There are no provisions on demobilization in the documents.
Martial law in the country has been in effect since February 2022. At the same time Zelensky signed a decree on general mobilization. Later, the Verkhovna Rada repeatedly extended its effect. Most men between the ages of 18 and 60 are prohibited from leaving the country.
