The AFU lost more than 480 servicemen in the Kursk region over the day

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have lost more than 480 fighters in Kursk Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 1.

"Over the day, the AFU losses amounted to more than 480 servicemen, nine armored combat vehicles and 21 vehicles were destroyed," the ministry said in a statement.

The AFU formations were also defeated near the settlements of Daryino, Zamośće, Kurilovka and others. In addition, the RF Armed Forces repelled six counterattacks by enemy assault groups.

In Basovka, Belovodokh and Vodolaghy in Sumy region, Russian servicemen with the help of army aviation and artillery fire hit the AFU's living forces.

Earlier in the day, the crew of a Su-34 multirole supersonic fighter-bomber of the Russian Air and Space Forces (AFS)struck an AFU stronghold and manpower in the border area of Kursk Region. After receiving confirmation from intelligence about the successful destruction of the target, the crew safely returned to the departure airfield.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway. In total, during the fighting in the Kursk direction the enemy has lost more than 45.5 thousand servicemen.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
