New Year's Eve fireworks in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah broke two world records

The emirate of Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE has set two new Guinness World Records during a New Year's Eve drone show and fireworks display. The Emirate's Tourism Development Department (RAKTDA) press office announced this on Wednesday, January 1.
Two records were set for the "Largest tree figure formed by drones in the air" and for the "Largest seashell figure formed by drones in the air".
The Our Story in the Sky show focused on the Emirate's history and culture. A three-part performance was shown on a four-kilometer stretch of coastline using 1,400 drones, lasers and pyrotechnics. The first act was about the emirate's ecosystem, the second about its maritime heritage and pearl mining, and the third about the history of seafaring. The show ended with a fireworks display.
"This year's New Year's Eve celebrations were a vivid reflection of Ras Al Khaimah's outstanding tourism achievements for 2024. The two Guinness records set during the New Year's Eve show reflect the innovative spirit and cultural identity of our emirate," commented RAKTDA Head of RAKTDA Raki Phillips.
Last year's New Year's Eve fireworks display in Ras Al Khaimah made it into the Guinness Book of World Records in two categories: longest line of fireworks on water and in the sky. In 2022, the emirate also set two world records, and in 2020 it also broke two records for both the most "large-scale performance" and the "highest waterfall of fireworks".
