The weather forecaster reported a weak magnetic storm on January 1

Leading expert of the weather center "Phobos" Mikhail Leus on Wednesday, January 1, reported the beginning of a weak magnetic storm on Earth.
Since the evening of December 31, the geomagnetic field of the Earth was in a weakly perturbed state. Because of this, residents of some regions of Russia, namely Leningrad, Pskov, Tver, Novgorod regions and Karelia, could observe auroras.
"This morning, at 7:58 Moscow time, the Kr index, reflecting the level of perturbation of the Earth's magnetosphere, reached a mark of 5 units, which allows us to talk about the beginning of a weak magnetic storm, class G1", - he wrote in his Telegram-channel.
It is specified that the magnetic storm will not intensify and will stop by noon.
Earlier, on December 27, it was reported that four days with excited magnetosphere are expected in January: on the 5th, 10th, 16th and 19th. However perturbations will be weak and will not exceed five points.
