Yakutsk warned of frost up to -50 degrees Celsius

Yakutsk UHMS on Wednesday, January 1, reported a drop in temperature in the capital of the region to -50 degrees Celsius, a storm warning was announced.

"From January 1 to January 4, 2025 in the city of Yakutsk and its environs abnormally cold weather, a decrease in average daily air temperature below the climatic norm by 7 degrees and more," - stated in the message in the Telegram-channel.

According to the forecast, the temperature on January 1 and 2 will fall to -49 degrees.

Earlier in the day, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that strong winds with gusts up to 30 meters per second, snowstorms and frost up to -40 degrees are predicted in areas of Chukotka. Rescuers advised residents and guests of the region not to leave the settlements, as well as not to approach dilapidated structures.
