This applies to all drivers, both those who drive for themselves and those who work in transportation. However, if desired, drivers can still apply to the traffic police to replace the license, TASS notes with reference to the statement of the traffic police.

It is specified that, despite the automatic renewal, the driver's license must be replaced if: the personal data of the owner have changed, the rights have become unusable, they were lost or stolen, or if the driver's health condition has changed and now there are contraindications to driving.

The day before it was reported that Russians need to replace driver's licenses in 2025, which expired in 2022 and then automatically extended. It was specified that the owners of invalid licenses will need to pass a medical examination, pay the established state duty and get a new license by applying to the State Automobile Inspectorate.
