Air defense forces shot down two UAVs over the Bryansk and Kursk regions

The Russian Defense Ministry said on Wednesday, January 1, that air defense forces shot down one drone of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) over the territory of Kursk Region.

"During the past night, the air defense forces on duty destroyed one Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle over the territory of Kursk region," the agency said in a statement.

The head of the Bryansk region, Alexander Bogomaz, also said that air defense forces shot down a Ukrainian UAV over the region.

"Over the territory of the Bryansk region by air defense forces of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation detected and destroyed a UAV of aircraft type," - wrote in Telegram-channel.

It is specified that there are no casualties and destruction as a result of the incident.

The day before it was reported that air defense means destroyed seven drones over five Russian regions. Thus, two drones were destroyed over Crimea and North Ossetia, and one each over Belgorod, Bryansk and Astrakhan regions. The attacks were repelled between 08:00 and 11:00 Moscow time.

Ukrainian militants are trying to strike Russian territories against the background of the special operation in Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
