The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) found the largest cache of explosive devices in the history of the bureau during the arrest of a resident of the state of Virginia in the United States. This was reported on December 31 by CBS News TV channel with reference to law enforcement agencies.

While executing a search warrant on Brad Spafford's farm, investigators found more than 150 improvised explosive devices. Some of them were labeled "lethal" and preloaded into a vest.

Some of the devices were found in a detached garage and some were found in a backpack in a bedroom of the home. Investigators also found a can of HMTD substance, which can explode due to friction or temperature extremes, in a refrigerator.

The investigation into Spafford began in 2023 after a neighbor of the man reported that Spafford was storing guns. According to him, he had already lost three fingers on his hands because of it. The neighbor also said that Spafford has spoken out about the need to bring back political assassinations.

Earlier, on November 30, because of the discovery of an unexploded 250-kilogram bomb made by the United States during the Second World War in Germany, about 9 thousand people were forced to evacuate. It was specified that the shell was found at the construction site of the Hannover Higher Medical School. In the afternoon, the explosive device was successfully defused, both detonators were detonated on site after extraction.
