Buk-M2 missile launchers destroyed an AFU drone on the Kakhovka direction


Buk-M2 anti-aircraft missile systems of the Dnipro group of troops have destroyed a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in the Kakhovka area in Kherson Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 1.
While on duty for airspace protection and defense, the Buk-M2 SAM system detected and escorted an enemy aerial target that was moving in the direction of Russian troops. The crew chief took an immediate decision to destroy the UAV of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The artillerymen launched an anti-aircraft guided missile and hit the target, which was conducting aerial reconnaissance of the positions of the Russian Armed Forces troops.
Russian servicemen continue to fight against reconnaissance drones, ballistic missiles and attack drones of the Ukrainian army in the Kakhov direction in the Kherson region. The Buk-M2 SAM systems of the Dnipro group of troops are detecting, escorting and destroying hundreds of aircraft around the clock, providing reliable air cover for our positions and the civilian population from the actions of the AFU's air attack means, as well as the most important administrative and industrial facilities of the Kherson region.
The day before, on December 31, it was reported that the Russian Armed Forces destroyed an AFU armored personnel carrier in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR). The Defense Ministry noted that the movement of the armored personnel carrier was detected in one of the forest belts on the territory of the DNR by servicemen of the reconnaissance unit of the 20th Guards Army of the group of troops "West" with the help of air reconnaissance means. The footage shows a direct hit and explosion of an APC-80 of the AFU militants.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
