Relations between incumbent US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris became strained after Republican Donald Trump won the presidential election, The Wall Street Journal reported on December 30, citing sources.

"Since the election, the [Biden family's] relationship with Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff in private has been chilly at times," the publication said.

It notes that first lady Jill Biden has "not been a fan" of Harris since the 2020 election, when she accused the incumbent of opposing federal desegregation programs in the education system at a debate.

Officially, the White House denies that there are problems in the relationship between the head of state and the vice president, the publication specified.

Earlier, on December 16, The Guardian newspaper reported that representatives of the Democratic Party of the United States want to see Harris as a candidate for the presidency in the elections in 2028. According to the publication, she is also considering running for governor of California.

The election of the 47th President of the United States was held on November 5. In the national vote, Trump received 51% of the votes, while Harris received 47.4%. After the defeat, the candidate from the Democrats came out to supporters with a speech, during which she thanked them and Biden for their support.
