Russian President Vladimir Putin has heard reports from Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov and commanders of troop groups on the progress in the zone of the special military operation (SMO). This was announced by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on December 31.

"Russian President and Supreme Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Putin has heard reports from the chief of the General Staff as well as commanders of groupings on the progress of the special military operation," TASS quoted him as saying.

In addition, the press secretary of the head of state noted that the president thanked servicemen and participants of the special military operation for their service, and warmly congratulated them on the coming New Year.
