Two-time German champion and former Spartak player Barrios has ended his career

Former Spartak Moscow striker and two-time German champion with Borussia Dortmund, Paraguayan Lucas Barrios has announced the end of his career at the age of 40.

"I wanted to let everyone know that the time has come to say goodbye to professional soccer. We will cross paths more on the pitch, but on the other side, the side that I will occupy as a coach, supporting young people, giving them the tools to grow and sharing my experience that I have had all these years," the Globo edition quoted the soccer player as saying.

During his career, Barrios was also a player of Gremio, Palmeiras, Montpellier and other clubs. For "Spartak" the athlete played from 2013 to 2015, during this time he played 20 matches, scored two goals and made two goal passes.

In the Paraguay national team Barrios played 36 matches and scored 10 goals.

In August it became known about the end of the career of Polish footballer Wojciech Szczęsny. He represented English clubs Arsenal and Brentford, Italian Roma and Juventus. With Arsenal, he won the FA Cup three times and the Super Cup once. He was also recognized as the best goalkeeper in the English Premier League.
