Putin's New Year's address lasted about 3.5 minutes

Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the country's residents on December 31 with a New Year's greeting that lasted just over 3.5 minutes.

The first people to see the footage were residents of Chukotka and Kamchatka, where the time difference with Moscow is nine hours and the New Year has already arrived.

"Now, on the threshold of the new year, we are thinking about the future. We are sure that everything will be fine. We will go only forward," the Russian leader said, speaking against the backdrop of the Kremlin.

The head of state emphasized that the country has a lot to solve, but is proud of what has already been done. Putin called it a common asset and a reliable basis for further development. He also noted that Russia is an independent, free and strong country that has responded to the most difficult challenges.

On New Year's Eve, the thoughts of relatives and friends, millions of people across Russia are with the fighters and commanders, Putin added.

The President called them true heroes who undertook the great military labor to defend the Motherland, and pointed out that the country is proud of their courage and bravery.

Residents of the easternmost regions of the country - Kamchatka and Chukotka - were the first in Russia to celebrate the year 2025 at 15:00 Moscow time. The holiday is celebrated 11 times in different time zones of the country. Residents of the Kaliningrad Region are the last to celebrate the New Year at 01:00 Moscow time.
