- Media reported attempts by criminals from Venezuela to enter the U.S. before Trump's inauguration

Members of a large Venezuelan criminal organization Tren de Aragua are trying to get into the United States before the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump and attacking border guards at the border with Mexico. This was reported by the New York Post on December 31, citing a memo from state law enforcement officials.
"Tren de Aragua gang members armed with knives are attacking border crossings in [the city of] El Paso, Texas, in an attempt to enter the U.S. - and say they will attack border guards trying to stop them," the publication's piece said.
The document shows that last week 20 armed Venezuelan bandits tried to break into the U.S. through the border post, and another such attempt is expected on January 1.
Journalists described border El Paso as a sort of "headquarters" for Tren de Aragua, since many of the gang members travel to other states from there.
In a conversation with the publication, retired US Homeland Security Investigations agent Victor Avila expressed the opinion that the increase in the number of attempted border crossings is related to the upcoming inauguration of Trump, after which the situation of illegal migrants should change.
Earlier, on December 28, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing a source, that Trump's team may use military bases and planes to deport illegal migrants. According to these data, immediately after the inauguration of the Republican plans to declare a state of emergency in the migration sphere.
Before that, on December 22, Trump promised to close the US border to illegals on the first day in office and announced the largest deportation in the history of the country. An adviser to the president-elect then promised to expel even those illegal migrants whose children were born on American territory.
