Su-34 fighter crew strikes AFU position in Kursk border region


The crew of a Su-34 multirole supersonic fighter-bomber of the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) has struck a stronghold and manpower of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the border area of Kursk Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on December 31.
The ministry also showed the fighter strike on the reconnaissance targets. It was carried out by aircraft bombs with a universal planning and correction module (UMPK), the ministry specified.
A day earlier it was reported that the crews of Su-35s multi-purpose super-maneuverable fighters with controlled thrust vectoring provided air cover for the VKS crews in the Kursk border area. In addition, the aircraft detected the air defense facilities of the AFU with the help of a complex of aviation weapons.
The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway. In total, during the fighting in the Kursk direction the enemy has lost more than 45.9 thousand servicemen.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
