The Yemeni capital of Sana'a, controlled by the rebel Houthis from the Ansar Allah movement, was subjected to airstrikes, Al Masirah TV channel reported in its Telegram channel on December 31.

One of the targets was the Al Ardi building complex, where the Houthi Defense Ministry is located, it said. Another six strikes hit another neighborhood.

It is specified that Israel denies its involvement in the attack. According to currently unconfirmed reports, the strikes could have been carried out by US and British forces.

Earlier in the day, the Yemeni Houthis claimed a missile attack on Ben-Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, as well as a cruise missile and drone strike on a US aircraft carrier, preparing a major attack on Yemen.

Prior to that, on Dec. 26, the Israeli Air Force reported a massive series of strikes on an airbase and airport in northern Sanaa. The port of Hodeidah in the west of the country was also attacked. On the same day, the Houthis threatened a swift response to the bombings.

The situation in the Middle East escalated on the morning of October 7, 2023, when the Palestinian radical movement Hamas subjected Israeli territory to a massive rocket attack from the Gaza Strip. On the same day, Israel began retaliatory strikes.
