Air defense forces shot down five Ukrainian UAVs over Russian regions

Air defense forces have shot down five Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over Rostov and Astrakhan regions. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on Tuesday, December 31.
"On December 31 this year, between 11:30 and 14:00 Moscow time, on-duty air defense means intercepted and destroyed five Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles: four UAVs - over the territory of Rostov region and one - over the territory of Astrakhan region," the ministry said.
Earlier in the day, air defense means destroyed seven drones over five Russian regions. Thus, two drones were destroyed over Crimea and North Ossetia, and one each over Belgorod, Bryansk and Astrakhan regions. The attacks were repelled between 08:00 and 11:00 Moscow time.
Ukrainian militants are trying to strike Russian territories against the background of the special operation in Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
