Putin expressed confidence that Russia will move forward in the New Year

Russian President Vladimir Putin in his New Year's address on December 31, which was shown to residents of Chukotka and Kamchatka, expressed confidence that the Russian Federation will move forward.

"Now, on the threshold of the new year, we are thinking about the future. We are sure that everything will be fine. We will go only forward," the Russian leader said.

In addition, he said that the country has a lot to solve, adding that the state is proud of what has already been done. Putin called it a common asset and a reliable basis for further development of the state. The president noted that Russia is an independent, free and strong country that was able to give an answer to the most difficult challenges.

"On this New Year's Eve, the thoughts, hopes of relatives and friends, millions of people all over Russia together with our fighters and commanders. You are true heroes who have undertaken the great military labor to defend Russia, to provide our people with strong guarantees of peace and security. We are proud of your courage and bravery, we believe in you," Putin added.

Earlier in the day, Russian cosmonauts Alexei Ovchinin, Ivan Wagner and Alexander Gorbunov, who are aboard the International Space Station (ISS), congratulated their compatriots on the coming New Year. They urged their fellow citizens to do good and give smiles to those around them in the new year.
