Police conducting an operation against the activities of criminal cartels in the Mexican state of Chiapas, found the bodies of 31 people buried in unmarked graves. This was reported by Proceso magazine on Monday, December 30, citing the state's attorney general, Jorge Luis Llaven Abarca.

"To date we have a total of 25 clandestine graves, 31 bodies have been found, of which 29 are male and two female. We are going to continue with all the necessary procedures to be able to find each of the bodies of the people reported missing," the publication quoted him as saying.

Genetic examination of the bodies is being conducted for their identification and subsequent transfer to relatives. Meanwhile, the operation continues, so the discovery of other bodies is not excluded.

The magazine specifies that in total for the year, the state prosecutor's office has received statements about 124 missing residents. In addition, there are families who, out of fear, did not want to report missing relatives.

In addition, according to the Attorney General, the number of murders and disappearances in Chiapas has increased significantly in three years, but local authorities have not recognized the problem. In turn, the state governor Eduardo Ramirez said that at least four people were detained during the operation.

Earlier, on December 14, it was reported that employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia found the bodies of 12 employees of the Indian restaurant, including 11 foreigners, in the ski resort of Gudauri. Investigative actions are being carried out in connection with the incident.
