FT predicts Kiev to sign a peace treaty in 2025 giving up territories

Ukraine will be forced to sign a peace treaty with Russia in 2025 with the renunciation of lost territories. Such a forecast was published by the Financial Times newspaper on December 31.
"[Ukrainian President] Volodymyr Zelensky (whose term of office expired on May 20 - Ed.) will agree to Russia's de facto, but not legal, control over the territory it currently occupies," the publication wrote.
In addition, the publication notes that Ukraine will cede the territory in exchange for security guarantees from Europe backed by the United States. However, as the publication notes, the country's accession to NATO will be frozen.
The day before in Germany said that peace talks will be the only way out for Zelensky. As noted by Die Welt, this is due to the fact that the US President-elect Donald Trump seeks to end the conflict.
Earlier, on December 28, the Financial Times reported that Trump may force Ukraine to conclude a peace agreement without providing it with security guarantees. According to the material, the settlement will take place in the form of a major deal between the United States, Russia and China. Under the terms of the agreement, the United States will allegedly cede a number of spheres of influence.
On the same day, retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis expressed the opinion that the position of the future President of the United States in the negotiations on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict will become weaker with each day passing after his inauguration, scheduled for January 20.
The last round of talks between Russia and Ukraine took place in Istanbul on March 29, 2022. They lasted about three hours. Later, Kiev officially refused contacts with Moscow.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the worsening situation in the region.
