Almost 70 thousand tons of contaminated soil were collected from the Kuban coastline

From the coast of Kuban employees of the Russian Emergencies Ministry and volunteers collected and removed 69.6 thousand tons of sand and soil. This was reported on Tuesday, December 31, by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation.

On the shore near the beach "Vysokiy Bereg" new places of oil product discharge were found. Already cleaned 7 km of the coast in the Temryuksky district. Contaminated soil is removed from 63 km.

"In total, since the beginning of the work, employees of the Ministry of emergency Situations of Russia and volunteers collected and removed 69 615 tons of contaminated sand and soil", - stated in the message of the Department in Telegram-channel.

It is specified that in Crimea 76 people and 38 units of equipment are working to eliminate the consequences of pollution.: Over the last 24 hours no new pollution has been detected, since the beginning of the work more than 1 thousand km of the coast has been surveyed, more than 226 tons of contaminated sand and soil have been collected and removed, and more than 44 km of the coast has been cleaned.

On the eve of the head of the operational headquarters of the Krasnodar region Igor Galala said that the main work on cleaning the coast of the Kuban from fuel oil can be completed in a week in the absence of new emissions.

Tankers Volgoneft-212 andVolgoneft-239crashed in the Kerch Strait on December 15 due to bad weather. As a result of the incident there was a spill of oil products. 27 people were evacuated from both vessels. It was specified that one person died. On the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a working group has been created to coordinate work to eliminate the consequences of the accident.

In the Krasnodar region since December 26, the emergency regime of the federal level has been in force, and in the Crimea since December 28, the emergency regime of regional character has been declared. To eliminate the consequences of the oil spill, a safe sorbent was delivered to the Kuban, as well as a unit for pumping oil products from sunken tankers.
