Indexation of pensions of working pensioners will affect about 9 million people in 2025. This was announced on Tuesday, December 31, by the head of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs Yaroslav Nilov.

"We are talking about about 9 million working pensioners, who will receive already indexed pensions. As for indexation, the coefficient used is 7.3%, this is the forecast inflation index," TASS quoted him as saying.

Nilov clarified that despite the planned indexation of pensions, the government has the opportunity to further increase pension payments. He expressed hope that it will use this right when the difference between the forecast and actual inflation rate is known for sure.

Earlier, on December 5, a member of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs, Svetlana Bessarab, said that in 2025 all pensions in Russia will be indexed by 14.75%. The increase in payments will take place from April 1, 2025.

Before that, on November 30, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the law on the budget of the Pension and Social Insurance Fund for 2025-2027, according to which the social pension will be indexed by 14.75%. After indexation, its amount will be 15,456 rubles on April 1, 2025. In addition, insurance pensions will be increased by 7.3% on January 1, 2025.

November 20, Bessarab said that Russia would raise pensions for working and non-working citizens of the country from January 1, 2025. She noted that the government will be able to increase this figure until February 1, 2025, if the indexation does not correspond to the inflation rate.
