Kherson Region Governor Volodymyr Saldo said on Tuesday, December 31, that the goals of the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine are being successfully achieved and the Kiev regime is consistently suffering a strategic defeat.

"The noose around the bloody clown's neck is getting tighter and tighter, Ukrainian formations are losing their armed struggle capabilities," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

Saldo noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are experiencing a shortage of weapons and personnel, and the remaining soldiers are losing motivation to fight.

Earlier, on December 28, the Associated Press reported on demoralization in the ranks of the AFU due to the impending defeat of Ukrainian fighters in the Kursk region. The material notes that some commanders complain about difficult conditions and low morale. At the same time, fighters doubt not only the decisions of the leadership, but also the very purpose of the occupation.

Before that, on December 27, Bloomberg agency wrote that the U.S. believes that the Russian army will soon knock the AFU out of Kursk region. According to U.S. officials, with more concerted efforts by Moscow to push Ukrainian troops out of Kursk region, the territory occupied by Kiev will be held only until spring, after which they will either have to retreat or be surrounded.

The special operation to defend Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
