Smolensk region reported fire after AFU drone attack on fuel and energy facility

A fire has broken out in Yartsevsky district of Smolensk region as a result of a drone attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on a fuel and energy facility. This was reported by the head of the district Roman Zakharov on December 31.
"There was an attack of Ukrainian UAVs on the facility of the fuel and energy complex. As a result of the enemy attack there were fires," he wrote on his page in the social network "VKontakte".
Zakharov noted that employees of the Russian Emergencies Ministry are working at the scene.
Later, the Governor of the Smolensk region Vasily Anokhin confirmed the attack of Ukrainian drones on the territory of the region. He specified that the wreckage of one of the UAVs fell on the territory of an oil depot, which resulted in a fuel spill and ignited fuel and lubricants.
Earlier, on December 30, an apartment building was damaged as a result of the AFU rocket shelling of L'gov. The gas supply was temporarily cut off in the damaged house. In addition, windows were broken and walls were cut in a number of other houses.
Before that, on December 26, it became known that the AFU shelled civilian objects and infrastructure of Luhov. Four people were killed as a result of the strike. Five more people were hospitalized, with one of the women in serious condition. The deputy governor noted that the Kursk regional government's operational staff was deployed in the city. A criminal case has been opened over the incident.
Ukrainian militants are trying to strike Russian territories against the background of the special operation in Donbass, the beginning of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
