The UK will allocate an additional $76 million for aid programs to countries in Asia, Africa and the Middle East. The corresponding statement on December 30 was published on the website of the British government.

"The UK has pledged to allocate funds to expand aid programs and provide vital support to thousands of vulnerable people who suffer from the world's most serious humanitarian crises," - stated in the message.

Thus, $27.6 million will be directed to the implementation of humanitarian programs in the Middle East region, another $42.7 million will receive Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mali, Myanmar, Niger and Somalia. Up to $6.3 million will be used to finance the UN World Food Program and the same amount - to eliminate the consequences of tropical cyclone "Chido" in Mozambique.

According to UK Development Secretary Annelise Dodds, there is now a "desperate humanitarian situation" around the world.

"Climate change, conflict and extreme poverty are multiplying the suffering of the most vulnerable. The UK is working with our partners to increase the amount of humanitarian aid transferred to other countries," she was quoted as saying.

Dodds noted that these steps will help "to counter the threat to global stability" and fight the intensification of the migration crisis.

Earlier, on November 9, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova at the session "Russia - Africa. In the struggle for truth" at the first ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, she noted that a number of needy African countries do not receive assistance from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, while the main resources of the organizations are aimed at supporting Ukraine.
