Women volunteers spoke about their service in the NWO zone

A shooter-volunteer of the BARS-Kursk unit with the call sign Vesna and a medic with the call sign Matilda told Izvestia on December 30 about their service in the special operation zone.

"In 2014, I came to the city of Kursk because the AFU came to my city. I had to leave there with my child. Also in 2014, after the situation in Odessa in May, when people were burned, my father had a decision to go to the militia, to stand up for the defense of the house," said Vesna.

After that, the girl's mother also went to the front following her husband and was a paramedic on the line of contact until 2017. After the beginning of the NWO, Vesna's father was seriously injured and was unable to serve further. Then she decided to continue the family tradition herself and became a gunner after the AFU attack on the Kursk region.

In turn, Matilda shared that she has been serving as a medic in the SVO area since August 2023. She worked in a children's polyclinic as a pediatrician for about 10 years. According to her, she went to serve at the call of her heart.

"At the call, so to speak, of the heart, at the call of conscience, a sense of duty, probably, before the Motherland, I decided for myself that my help is needed here and now," - explained the medic.

Matilda is assisted by a 24-year-old medical officer with the call sign Barmaley, whose tasks include bandaging, transporting the wounded or escorting them to the hospital.

Earlier, on November 24, female medics of the "West" group of troops told Izvestia about their service. Thus, the commander of the medical platoon of the 169th motorized rifle brigade with the call sign Osa went into the army as a volunteer, which her 20-year-old son is very proud of. In turn, a paramedic of the first artillery division with the call sign Mika initially volunteered to serve in the artillery, but became a medic because of her knowledge and skills as a doctor.

The special operation to defend Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
