The main work on cleaning the Kuban coast from fuel oil can be completed in a week in the absence of new emissions. This was announced on Monday, December 30, by the first vice-governor, head of the operational headquarters of the Krasnodar region Igor Galala.

"If there are no new emissions of fuel oil, the main front of work will be completed within a week. After the cleanup of beaches will begin," - his words are quoted in Telegram-channel operstab.

It is specified that the detour of the area in the emergency response zone from the central beach of Anapa to the village of Veselovka showed that the work has been completed and the beach is completely cleaned. Along the coast from Anapa to Temryuksky district the removal of contaminated soil continues, it is planned to be completely removed by the end of the year.

At the same time in the area of Blagoveshchenskaya there are quite long distances where the machinery should work, Galila pointed out. There the work will continue from the new year with the regrouping of forces of municipalities.

According to the regional governor Veniamin Kondratyev, almost 70 thousand tons of soil with oil products have already been collected and removed from Anapa and Temryuk beaches.

In his Telegram-channel he specified that for three days the site of temporary storage in the farm Voskresenskoye near Anapa took 35 thousand tons, the same amount was taken to specialized enterprises for disposal.

On the eve of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia reported that about 64 thousand tons of sand and soil were collected from the Kuban coast. By that time 220 kilometers of the coast had been surveyed in Krasnodar region.

Tankers Volgoneft-212 andVolgoneft-239crashed in the Kerch Strait on December 15 due to bad weather. The incident resulted in a spill of oil products. 27 people were evacuated from both vessels. It was specified that one person died. On the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a working group has been created to coordinate work to eliminate the consequences of the accident.

In the Krasnodar region since December 26, the emergency regime of the federal level has been in force, and in Crimea since December 28, the emergency regime of regional character has been declared. To eliminate the consequences of the oil spill, a safe sorbent was delivered to the Kuban, as well as a unit for pumping oil products from sunken tankers.
