A case has been opened against militants who attacked a car with children in Kursk region

A criminal case has been opened against militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) who attacked a car with children in the Kursk region in August. This was reported in the Telegram-channel of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia.

"A criminal case has been opened against the militants of the AFU, who committed a terrorist act against the peaceful population of the Kursk region (paragraphs "a", "c" part 2 of article 205 of the Criminal code of the Russian Federation)", - stated in the message.

According to investigators, on August 6 this year, militants used a drone equipped with an explosive device and attacked a car in the town of Suja. There were civilians in the car, including two children of nine and ten years old. As a result, the children and the driver were injured.

"In the course of the preliminary investigation will be established and brought to statutory responsibility all representatives of armed formations of Ukraine, involved in this crime", - concluded in the Department.

Earlier, on December 27, it was reported that 21 criminal cases were sent to the court in respect of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), who were captured by the Russian army. It is specified that the Ukrainian fighters will be convicted for illegal invasion of the territory of the Kursk region.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway. In total, during the fighting in the Kursk direction the enemy lost more than 45.5 thousand servicemen.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
