Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has assessed Poland's plans to build a road to Kaliningrad Region to enable a quick troop transfer. The diplomat wondered whether this should be linked to the beginning of New Year celebrations in Warsaw.

"Have they started drinking already?" - she wrote in her Telegram channel, commenting on the words of Maciej Duszczyk, deputy head of the Polish Interior Ministry.

That Poland intends to build such a road, the official said the day before in an interview with the Financial Times. According to Duszczyk, the work will begin in the first months of 2025. He did not give any other details.

Earlier, on November 12, Poland's Deputy Minister of National Defense Cesari Tomczyk said that the country will make the border with Russia "the most protected in Europe." He promised an "innovative" result.

Before that, on October 31, Polish Prime Minister Tusk announced the start of construction of a wall on Poland's border with Russia. Commenting on the start of the work, the first deputy chairman of the State Duma's international affairs committee, Aleksey Chepa, expressed the opinion that Warsaw's main goal was to protect its border from illegal immigrants from Ukraine.
