Poland to build road to Russian border for possible troop transfer

Deputy head of the Polish Interior Ministry Maciej Duszczyk said that Poland will build a road to the border with the Kaliningrad region in 2025 to quickly transport troops in case of need. He said this in an interview with the British newspaper Financial Times on December 29.

The deputy head of the Polish Interior Ministry promised that construction would start in the first months of next year. He did not give other details.

"Have they started drinking already, or what?" - ironically commented on Duszczyk's statement in her Telegram, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

Earlier, on October 28, Polish President Andrzej Duda announced plans to erect an "iron curtain" on Poland's eastern border. He also noted that these measures are necessary to protect against potential "Russian aggression".

On February 24, 2023, the Polish military began installing anti-tank hedgehogs on roads on the border with Russia. Warsaw allegedly increases the level of security in this way. In addition, the hedgehogs were installed on the Polish-Belarusian border.

In November 2022, it was reported about Poland's plans to install 3 thousand cameras on the border with the Kaliningrad region of Russia. It was noted that such solutions would allow to promptly identify threats at the border and respond to them.
