The Russian Defense Ministry has published footage of the liberation of the village of Novoolenovka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). They were released on Monday, December 30, by the ministry's press service.

In the video, servicemen of the troops group "Center" hoisted the flag of Russia in the settlement.

"Thanks to the strength, bravery and heroism of every soldier of the Kedr Battalion of the 80th Tank Regiment, the point of Novoolenovka in the Donetsk People's Republic was liberated. Glory to Russia, victory will be behind us!" - said one of the military.

The liberation of Novovolenovka became known earlier in the day. In addition, the units of the Central Group defeated the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) manpower and equipment in the areas of the settlements of Dzerzhinsk, Vozdvizhenka, Dachenskoye and Peschanoye. The day before, it was also reported that the Russian army liberated Novotroitskoye.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
