El Al Airlines suspends flights to Moscow until the end of March

Israeli airline El Al has suspended flights from Tel Aviv to Moscow until the end of March 2025 after the crash of a passenger plane of Azerbaijan Airlines near Aktau. A spokesman for the company said on Monday, December 30.

"In addition to the previously published message about the suspension of flights to Moscow and after a comprehensive assessment of the situation, El Al Airlines announces the cessation of flights on the route Tel Aviv - Moscow until the end of the winter schedule (until the end of March)," - quotes the message "RIA Novosti".

It is specified that the decision was made after consultations with the authorities to fully understand the situation, and passengers will be promptly informed of the changes.

A passenger plane of AZAL Airlines, heading on the route Baku - Grozny, crashed near the Kazakh city of Aktau on December 25. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that the plane was damaged due to "shelling from the ground". A criminal case was opened after the incident. According to the airline's list, there were 62 passengers and five crew members on board. A total of 38 bodies were found at the site of the crash. Of the crew, three people survived.

Seven Russians died in the airplane crash, nine citizens of the Russian Federation survived. Later, a special airplane of the Russian Emergencies Ministry delivered them to Moscow.
