Kherson Region has fully completed the integration processes within Russia in 2024. This statement was made by the region's governor Volodymyr Saldo on December 30.

He noted that a lot had been done for the region in the past year. In particular, many schools, hospitals, roads were repaired, communal infrastructure was restored. In addition, the economy and culture were actively developing, the governor added.

"It was systematic, constant, painstaking work. <...> The region has made a big step towards the all-Russian level of development, fully integrated into Russia - and I consider this the most important achievement," Saldo concluded in a conversation with RIA Novosti.

Earlier, on November 22, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that titanic work is being done to repair and reconstruct tens of thousands of different facilities to rebuild Russia's new regions. At the time, he specified that the process of reconstruction of highways and repair of residential buildings was underway.

At the end of September, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that the Russian authorities will not put off solving social and economic issues in the new regions of the Russian Federation. He expressed confidence that all issues in the development of these regions would be resolved, as well as security issues.

The federal constitutional law on the admission of the liberated regions to the Russian Federation was signed on October 5, 2022. Before that, referendums on joining Russia were held between September 23 and 27. According to the law, residents of the republics of Donbas, Kherson and Zaporizhzhya regions are recognized as Russian citizens from the day they become part of the Russian Federation.
