Ovechkin's goal did not save "Washington" from defeat in the NHL match with "Detroit"

A goal by Russian forward Alexander Ovechkin, who plays for the Washington Capitals hockey club (HC), did not save the team from defeat in the National Hockey League (NHL) match with Detroit.
At the meeting, which took place in Detroit on December 29, Washington had pucks scored by Ovechkin and team captain Nick Dowd.
Despite this, Detroit won with a score of 4:2 (4:1, 0:0, 0:1), and Washington missed the opportunity to lead the Eastern Conference, reported Sport-Express.
Earlier, on December 28, Ovechkin took to the ice for the first time after breaking his leg. He took part in an official match of the National Hockey League (NHL), which was held in Toronto.
The Russian was injured in the third period of the match against Utah on November 19. The hockey player injured his knee in a collision with the opposing team's forward Jack McBain and was forced to leave the ice. Later, the hockey player's agent Gleb Chistyakov said that the athlete feels normal, but will miss four to six weeks due to a fracture of the left fibula.
