Greece has severed diplomatic relations and cooperation with Moscow since the beginning of the special military operation (SMO), due to which Russians stopped traveling en masse to the Balkan state on vacation, which, in turn, led to multi-billion dollar losses in the country. Russian Ambassador to Greece Andrei Maslov told RIA Novosti on December 30 in a conversation with RIA Novosti.

"According to the calculations of Greek industry experts, each year without Russian tourists costs the republic approximately €1 billion. Many local industries have lost profits, for example, fur and fur production," - said the diplomat.

In addition, he noted that, according to statistics, only 15 thousand Russian citizens have visited Greece in the last 10 months.

Despite this, Maslov said that experts note the increased demand of Russians to vacation in Athens at luxury resorts, but it has nothing to do with mass tourism.

Earlier, on December 26, "Izvestia" told about the most profitable destinations for travel in the New Year, among which are Kaliningrad, Derbent, Yoshkar-Ola, Ufa and many others.
