"Dome of Donbass" thwarted 168 attacks of UAVs of the AFU on civilians and infrastructure of the DNR

The DonbassDome airspace defense and electronic warfare (EW) system has thwarted 168 attacks by Ukrainian drones on civilians and infrastructure of the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR). This was reported on December 30 by Oksana Semesenko, a representative of the Russian Federal Security Service Department in the DNR.

"Over the past week, the Donbass Dome airspace defense and electronic warfare system detected and intercepted 168 enemy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over Donetsk and Makeyevka," she informed.

According to Semesenko, at the moment increased activity of reconnaissance drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) was observed over technical water nodes in Budennovskiy and Leninskiy districts of Donetsk.

In addition, the representative of the Russian FSSB added that an enemy airplane-type drone aimed at attacking the Makeyevka machine-building plant was suppressed in Makeyevka.

"Thanks to the coordinated work of our defenders and the timely response of citizens, the places where the drones fell were promptly identified. There were no casualties among civilians and damage to infrastructure," she concluded.

Earlier, on December 28, the system "Dome of Donbass" prevented an attack on Makeyevka machine-building plant. It is specified that the fragments of the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and the warhead were placed in a pre-equipped hollow in the ground and destroyed by detonation.

Before that, on December 21, the Donbass Dome system intercepted a Ukrainian drone in Donetsk. Explosive technicians with the help of a mobile robotic complex deactivated the mechanism and neutralized the Ukrainian attack drone.

On December 17, Donbass Dome foiled a terrorist attack on the Galaktika shopping center in Makeyevka in the DNR. The drone of the AFU was armed with an explosive device.

Prior to that, on December 16, Oksana Semesenko, the official representative of the Russian Federal Security Service's directorate for the DNR, said that during the past week, the Donbass Dome system had detected and intercepted 138 Ukrainian UAVs in the skies above Donetsk and Makeyevka.

The Ukrainian armed forces have been shelling the territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics, as well as Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions on a daily basis amid the special operation to protect Donbas, which Russia announced the start of on February 24, 2022.
