The current head of Croatia Zoran Milanovic is leading in the presidential election with 49.1% of votes. This was reported on December 29 by the newspaper Vecernji with reference to the State Election Commission (SEC).

The newspaper noted that according to the processing of data from 99.90% of polling stations, Milanovic received 49.10% of the votes of all voters. He is followed by Dragan Primorac with 19.35%, Marija Selak Raspudic with 9.25%, Ivana Kekin with 8.89%, Tomislav Jonic with 5.08%, Miro Bulle with 3.82%, Branka Lozo with 2.41% and Niko Tokic Kartelo with 0.88%.

The main opponent for the Croatian president is Dragan Primorac, as the other contenders did not get even 10% of the votes.

According to the GEC, 3.76 million people have the right to vote, of which 250,000 live abroad. The turnout amounted to 45.99%

Eight people are vying for the post of the head of state. Zoran Milanovic and Dragan Primorac from the ruling party "Croatian Democratic Commonwealth" are the favorites. If none of the candidates receives more than 50% of the votes in the first round, a second round will be held in 14 days with the two candidates with the highest number of votes.
